Taj Mahal¬ -eighth wonder of the world

The Taj Mahal is one of the world’s famous historical buildings. It is a mausoleum of queen mumaz begum. It is situated an Agra city in India near the bank of Yamuna river. It is the finest art example of Mughal architecture. The Taj Mahal is regarded one of the eighth wonder of the world. Taj mahal is built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan established the Taj Mahal in the memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Shah Jahan met Mumtaz Mahal at the age of fourteen and fell in love at the first sight. She was a Muslim Persian princess and Shah Jahan was the son of the Mughal Emperor, Jahangir. They got married in 1612.

Mumtaz Mahal, an inseparable companion of Shah Jahan, died in 1631, while giving birth to their 14th child. It is believed that during her last moments, Mumtaz Mahal obtained a promise from Shah Jahan that he will build world's most beautiful monument in her memory. But this has not been proven to be true, till date. However, Shah Jahan did indeed build a magnificent monument as a tribute to her wife, which we today known as the "Taj Mahal". Shah Jahan, himself also, lies entombed in this mausoleum along with his wife. The construction of Taj Mahal started in the year 1631 and it took approximately 22 years to build it. An epitome of love, it made use of the services of 22,000 laborers and 1,000 elephants. It was built entirely out of white marble, which was brought in from all over India and central Asia. After an expenditure of approximately 32 million rupees (approx. US $68000), Taj Mahal was finally completed in the year 1653. However, the history of Taj Mahal of India still has some gaps. For example, there are many theories regarding the architect of this magnificent monument.

Every year more than two millions of visitors come to visit this historical place which is marked by the beauty and fragrance of the atmosphere. It has again made its name in the list of Seven Wonders of the World. It is open for six days except Friday as it is engaged for prayers during these days. The visitors can enter from the pathway which is surrounded by the beautiful gardens. Visitors can enjoy the scintillating beauty of this exclusive art at night also. It is open especially for the tourist. You are not allowed to carry any eatables inside the Taj Mahal.

For the visitors it is an embodiment of love and romance. One gets mesmerized by the eternal beauty that this place holds, it stands on the river Yamuna with full-fledged landscapes. The precious ornaments and the exquisite gemstones have added to the charm of the tomb. The beautiful surrounding locations and the pleasing atmosphere will definitely leave you amazed.
